Today Mini UAVs are being employed in many critical missions. Unfortunately, Mini UAV aerial surveillance video footage is subject to many distortions due to vibrations, sudden impacts from air currents and fast movement of the vehicle making it harder or sometimes impossible for users to have an understanding of their environment. In order to overcome these affects, a stabilization program that filters out image vibrations, a mosaic program that stitches image in order to create a larger view of the area, a hibrid program that enables stabilization without frame cropping

Mosaic program is based on processing every incoming video frame and matching it with the previous one. Its main advantage compared to similar applications worldwide is its ability to work on CPU in real time and near real time speed accurately. In order to achieve same performance, similar applications around the may require special hardware and this may not be feasible to integer into every UAV system. This enchances performance is due to highly optimized algorithms that have been developed in house.

In Mosaic Mode, every incoming image is matched with previous one and its position with respect to a reference point is calculated. Later on new image is positioned into a larger mosaic image. By using this method consecutive images are added in order to create a larger view of the area. User is able to use this image in order to scan a region or determine its viewing location with respect to other objects.

In Stabilization Mode, new coming image is positioned with respect to previous one and displayed to users by matching images again. With this mode, image vibrations are filtered out while more basic camera motions can be followed thanks to the in-house developed functions. By following 3D camera motions accurately while smoothing image motions, users can have a better understanding of their environment.

Hibrid Mode enables stabilization of the video footage without cropping displayed images. Even if incoming images have severe vibrations, a full image without dark background is displayed to user.
